Mysore/Mysuru: Accusing the Union Government of pursuing anti-people policies, members of CPI(M) (Communist Party of India- Marxist) staged a demonstration near the Deputy Commissioner’s Office here this morning seeking ration and Rs.7,500 monthly financial assistance to all poor families for the next six months in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.

They also urged for fulfilment of their 18-point charter of demands, which chiefly included free distribution of 10 kg food grains to every needy family for the next six months, extension of National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNRGS) guaranteeing a minimum of 200 days of work and wages a year, repeal of amendments made to APMC and Essential Goods Acts, revival of closed factories, immediate relief to all flood victims of the district and awarding degree to final year students based on the assessment of their performance in the previous semesters, among others.
