Mysuru: The 3rd JMFC Court has issued Non-Bailable Warrant (NBW) against Congress MLA M.K. Somashekar in a defamation case filed against him during 2008. The warrant was issued as Somashekar failed to attend the Court hearings related to the defamation case filed by former Corporator M.C. Chikkanna. The former Corporator, in press release issued on May 2008, had accused Somashekar of producing fake caste certificate to obtain a permit to LPG gas agency. In his reply, Somashekar had allegedly made derogatory remarks against Chikkanna following which a defamation case was filed.
