Cops evict hawkers near Sammelana venue

Mysuru: Even as the Sammelana will conclude this evening, Police along with MCC’s ‘Abhaya’ team evicted several hawkers in the vicinity of Maharaja’s College Grounds here this morning. The registered stall owners at the Sammelana had complained about the hawkers who were selling various items at discounted price which was hampering their business. Added to that the alleged bomb threat letter yesterday had probably alerted the Police. When the hawkers were being evicted by force, Police had to resort to a mild lathi charge. However, onlookers wondered how Police permitted hawkers to conduct business for the past two days.
