Mysuru: To create an awareness among public on the importance of conserving lakes and environmental protection, a coffee table book Namma Kukkarahalli Kere published by Mysore Grahakara Parishat (MGP) in association with Wild Mysuru was released by students of Environmental School Warden Project of Kautilya Vidyalaya at a programme held on Tuesday at Kukkarahalli Lake premises here.
Speaking as the chief guest, Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G. Sankar contended that environment should be protected through self-motivation. He pointed out that the location of Kukkarahalli Lake in the middle of the city as a lung space is rare and unique. He said that the Lake is not just any water body but an excellent zone of bio-diversity and added that the book pictorially depicts the presence and importance of rare birds.
