Mysuru: Chief Minister Siddharamaiah has directed Social Welfare Department to vacate the stay on the process of appointment of teaching and non-teaching staff to the University of Mysore within ten days. In the light of the State Legislature Committee on Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in a meeting in January 2016 finding that the University, during its earlier recruitment, had neither followed the roster system properly nor filled up backlog vacancies. No appointments had taken place since April 2016 and as a result, 301 teaching posts and 735 non-teaching posts are lying vacant. If these posts are unfulfilled, the UGC will not give grants. Hence, in the light of this background, the CM held a meeting at his Home Office ‘Krishna’ in Bengaluru yesterday and directed the Social Welfare Department to withdraw the stay within ten days. He also directed the University of Mysore to fill the posts following all rules in a transparent manner. Mysuru District in-Charge Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa, Higher Education Minister Basavaraja Rayareddy, Department Principal Secretary Lakshminarayana, University of Mysore in-charge Vice Chancellor Prof. C. Basavaraju and Registrar D. Bharati and others were present at the meeting.
