Chamarajanagar: Chief Minister Siddharamaiah yesterday launched various development projects, including the long-pending multi-village drinking water project and officially announced taluk status to Hanur.
The drinking water project, expected to solve the problems of two lakh people in 166 villages, was launched at Nagavalli in Chamarajanagar taluk. Speaking on the occasion, the CM remembered late Minister H.S. Mahadevaprasad, who played a major role in initiating the project. The Kabini River water is released to Ummathuru, at a distance of 17 km where it is purified. Later, the water is pumped and supplied through pipelines. At Hanur, the CM launched various programmes and inaugurated buildings.
