Mysuru: A traffic awareness programme for school children was conducted by the Traffic Wardens and the VV Puram Traffic Police Station at CFTRI School in city recently. The programme aimed at imparting students about their responsibilities on road and awareness about the different traffic rules. Mamatha, ASI, VV Puram Traffic Police Station, explained the various traffic rules to be followed by the students and their parents while riding a vehicle, and how violations could lead to accidents. In an active interactive session with the students, she advised the students to ride vehicle only after they are above 18 years and have a driving licence to their name. She also told them that if they drive the vehicles before crossing the 18-year mark, or if they commit any other violation, it would put their parents in trouble; they could be either penalised or put behind bars. Subramanian, Deputy Chief Traffic Warden, gave a video presentation displaying the live cases of traffic violations which included helmetless riding, talking on the mobile while riding, not fastening the safety belt, etc., that have led to accidents and deaths.
