Mysuru: Doctors at city’s Cauvery Heart and Multispeciality Hospital have performed the first case of valve in valve Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) procedure on a 57-year-old critically ill patient with failure of the surgically implanted valve recently.
The patient had undergone an open heart surgery with replacement of his aortic valve and aortic root (Bentall Surgery) five years back at Bengaluru but his valve started to leak and the patient had developed severe symptoms of heart failure and had multiple admissions. He had run out of options when Dr. Rajagopal Jambunathan, Chief Consultant Cardiologist, advised this novel procedure.
