Lucknow-based Academy of Management Studies has launched a census of powerloom weavers in Karnataka. The census will cover those involved in pre-weaving activities such as reeling, testing etc. The census is aimed at studying the social and economical impact of Government policies and programmes concerning powerlooms, the quantity of textiles manufactured by the unorganised powerloom sector, the actual number of weaver workers involved in pre-and-post weaving activities and the like.
Powerloom owners, weavers and workers working in Powerlooms/ Reeling and Testing Units are asked to make best use of this census, which will go on till the end of July 2023. For details, contact the Department of Handlooms and Textiles on Ph: 0821-2441353.
