Car driver flees accident spot

Mysore/Mysuru: A two-wheeler rider was killed on the spot after a car, allegedly driven on the wrong side, rammed into his motorbike at Rajivnagar this morning.

The deceased has been identified as Geoffrey Vijay Kumar (38), a resident of Rajivnagar and a system administrator at Sarada Vilas Educational Institutions in city. He is survived by his father Vijay Ratna Kumar, mother Celine, wife Monika Rathnamala and four-year-old daughter Caroline.

According to the Police, Geoffrey had stepped out around 8 am to buy breakfast for his family before heading to church. While he was riding through Rajivnagar, a Maruti Swift car, reportedly coming from the wrong direction, collided head-on with his bike, killing him instantly. The driver of the car is said to have fled the scene.

Narasimharaja (NR) Traffic Police personnel rushed to the spot, conducted a mahazar and shifted the body to the MMC&RI mortuary for post-mortem. A case has been registered.

Police, who have collected CCTV footage from the vicinity, said the vehicle involved has been traced and steps are being taken to initiate further action, it is said.
