Months after Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai announced on the day he assumed office as the CM, that children of farmers who want to pursue education after PUC would be given scholarship, the Agriculture Department has invited applications from eligible children of farmers for availing the scholarship. The CM then had declared that all beneficiary students would get a scholarship ranging from Rs. 3,000 to Rs. 11,000, for which Rs. 1,000 crore will be earmarked in the Budget.
With the Agriculture Depart-ment inviting applications, the eligible students can apply for the scholarship from the current academic year itself by submitting Aadhaar Card copies of their parents. Also, all the colleges are asked to give publicity for the scheme by distribution of pamphlets and putting up banners in colleges.
