Mysuru: Mysuru District Minister Dr. Yathindra Siddaramaiah has alleged that the sting operation was part of an attempt to blackmail his father, former CM Siddaramaiah and was linked to efforts to secure a Congress ticket from Puttur Constituency.

Dr. Yathindra said, two persons, including a journalist, had been taken into custody and questioned as part of the investigation. He said, his father had been kept informed of the developments. “My father has clearly said that whoever is involved in the case should be arrested. We have faith in the investigation and it is progressing properly. If, at any stage, the probe is found to be inadequate, we will demand a higher-level investigation,” he said.

“It is evident that the intention was to damage my father’s reputation and the legacy. The video clearly shows the involvement of people from our own party. Whether they acted on their own or someone else was behind the operation must be established through the investigation,” he said.

He said, the motive appeared to be linked to electoral ambitions. “At first glance, it appears that the Congress woman seen in the video was seeking the party ticket from the Puttur Assembly Constituency. The sting operation seems to have been carried out with that objective in mind,” Dr. Yathindra said.
