Mysuru: Ganabharathi will be celebrating Sri Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Birth Anniversary at its Veene Seshanna Bhavan in Kuvempunagar on July 17 at 6 pm.

On the occasion, Dr. Rama V. Bennur will deliver a lecture on the contributions of Wadiyar to music and Bharatanatyam recital will be presented by renowned artiste Vidu. Padmini S. Upadhya based on the kritis of Sri Jayachamaraja Wadiyar.

Profile: Having established herself in the art of dance for over 25 years, Vidu. Padmini Upadhya is the Director of Rudraksha Natyalaya in Bengaluru.

She received her initial training from Guru D.V. Narmada and subsequently continued it under V. Indira Kadambi and V. Nirupama Rajendra. She is currently learning literature from Arjun Bharadwaj.

Padmini, who holds a Post-Graduate degree in Clinical Psychology, is an ‘A-Top’ grade artiste in the dance division of Doordarshan. Among the many titles she has received, the Aryabhata Kalashree award and the Royal Society of Edinburgh award are prominent. She has earned a reputation as an artiste and dance choreographer in many places across the country and abroad. She has given demonstrations at institutions such as SPICMACAY, Omkaar School of Indian Dance and Noopura Kala Shaale.
