In order to encourage science writing and publication of science books in Kannada, Karnataka Science and Technology Academy (KSTA) is giving State award for best writers in the field of agriculture, science, technology and medicine. The following six books have been selected for the year 2018-19: ‘Anukarana’ by Dr. T.S. Channesh (Science), ‘Hosa Tantrajnana, Hosa Avakashagalu’ by Dr. Udayashankar Puranik (Technology), ‘Computer Saksharate’ (Professional) by Prof. Mahadevaiah, ‘Mannu - Usiraduva Jeeva Vastu’ by C. Triveni (Agriculture), ‘Vaidya Vijnana’ by Dr. Ranjit Biranna Nayak (Medical Science) and ‘Sanjivini Part-2 (Arogya Margadarshini)’ by Dr. Muralimanohar Chuntaru.
