Bengaluru: Congress MLA from Belur (Hassan), Y.N. Rudresh Gowda passed away at a private hospital here this morning following brief illness. Rudresh Gowda, also a former Lok Sabha MP from Hassan, was being treated at the hospital’s ICU when he breathed his last at about 11.30 am, despite the best efforts of the doctors to save him, according to hospital sources. Rudresh Gowda who was critically ill could not take part in the Rajya Sabha polls held yesterday. He is the fourth Legislator of the present Assembly to pass away in recent months — the others being Qamarul Islam of Congress from Kalaburagi in Sept. 2017, Chikkamadu of JD(S) who represented H.D. Kote in Nov.2017 and K.S. Puttannaiah of KRRS who represented Melukote, in Feb. 2018.
