Patil, who was miffed after missing out a Cabinet berth in the Siddaramaiah Government, was appointed as Advisor to the Chief Minister in Dec. 2023, along with Yelburga MLA Basavaraj Rayareddy as Economic Advisor to CM and veteran party MLA R.V.
