Mysuru: The Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology, JSS Dental College and Hospital, in association with KPCC Professional Cell conducted Oral Cancer awareness and detection camp at Varuna in Nanjangud taluk on Oct. 2 to create awareness on ill-effects of tobacco and its products.
Varuna MLA Dr. Yathindra Siddharamaiah was the chief guest. Dr. K.P. Mahesh gave a talk on the ill-effects of tobacco and oral cancer to public. Dr. C.J. Sanjay, Dr. S.D. Prasanna, Dr. Shika Khare, Dr. R. Aishwarya, Dr. Mounika Prashanthi were part of the camp. About 150 tobacco abusers were screened out of which 20 were diagnosed to have pre-cancerous conditions, which were later confirmed by Oral Scan. These patients were counselled and referred to the hospital for biopsy and other medical care.
