Cariappa unveiled the portrait of Bharani Art Gallery Co-founder Sheela Kaverappa during the 32nd anniversary celebrations of the Gallery at Vivekanandanagar on June 7 as Artist Baburao Nadoni, Administrative Training Institute (ATI) Joint Director Sadhana Ashok Pote, Kannada Sahitya Kalakoota President M. Chandrashekar, Mysuru District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Maddikere Gopal and Gallery Convenor N.B. Kaverappa look on.
Mysuru - Former Mysuru Rangayana Director Addanda C. Cariappa regretted that attempts are being made to destroy centuries old rich Hindu traditions in the name of rationalism.
He was speaking after unveiling the portrait of Sheela Kaverappa, the Co-founder of Bharani Art Gallery marking the 32nd anniversary of the Gallery located in Vivekanandanagar here on June 7.
Observing that the Britishers, who ruled the country for over two centuries, made attempts to show our rich traditions in poor light through education, Cariappa said, after the Britishers left, the Communists followed them and now, the newly emerged viral ‘Cockroach Janta Party’ is of the same view.
“Those who fight for the nation’s pride are termed as ‘Communal’. The fact is that education, arts and history, which shows our culture, traditions and practises in poor light pose a threat to harmony in the country,” he maintained.
Mysuru-based Administrative Training Institute (ATI) Joint Director Sadhana Ashok Pote said that arts do not only mean seeing through the eyes, but also enjoying in the minds. Arts have the power to keep alive human values, she noted.
“Art is a process that welds human feelings and emotions with the soul. Artists fill-in paint to the soul of the society,” she said and wished that the Gallery should become a centre for interaction between artists, students and art lovers.
Noting that the theme song for the Government’s Sakala Scheme was composed using a Artificial Intelligence (AI) tool in digital platform, Sadhana said, though the theme song was composed, it is not possible to incorporate the emotional feelings of human beings in that.
Mysuru District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Maddikere Gopal presided.
Artist Baburao Nadone, Gallery Convenor N.B. Kaverappa, Kannada Sahitya Kalakoota President M. Chandrashekar and others were present.
A three-day art exhibition, featuring works of noted artists such as N.B. Kaverappa, L. Shivalingappa, K.C. Mahadeva Shetty, Shivakumar Kesaramadu, C. Chikkanna, Vittal Reddy Chulaki, K.S. Parameshwara, Ashrarani Nadoni, M.L. Madhavi, K. Sangeetha, Shivakumar H. Mandya, Dr. Jamunarani Mirle, D. Abhilash, H.P. Rangaswamy and Mohan Varnikar, organised as part of the 32nd anniversary of Bharani Art Gallery, will conclude today at 7 pm.
