Bangalore: State Election Commissioner P.N. Srinivasachari has said that the membership of 26 Gram Panchayat (GP) members across the State has been cancelled for not declaring their assets.
Speaking to press persons here on Thursday, Srinivasachari said that as per the amended Panchayat Raj Act, all GP members are required to declare their assets every year. But as 26 GP members from across the State failed to declare their assets despite having been served with a show cause notice, their membership have been cancelled.
