The 38th series of Articulate (Mysuru) Festival, held at Veene Sheshanna Bhavana, Ganabharathi, Kuvempunagara, saw a showcase of five female classical dancers, four in Bharatanatyam and one in Kathak.
Akanksha Girish, Bharatanatyam artiste of Vazhuvoor style now furthering under Dr. Janaki Rangarajan of ‘Nritya Niketan’ commenced her recital with a Sri Muthuswami Dikshitar’s composition ‘Ardhanarishvaram Aradhayami Satatam’ in Kumudakriya Raga and Roopak Tala. This was proceeded by select verses from Adi Shankara’s ‘Uma Maheshwara Stotram.’ Akanksha concluded with a Sri Jayadeva Ashtapadi ‘Natha hare Jagannatha hare’ set in Raga Vaasanthi and Tala Misra Chaapu both dance numbers were Dr. Janaki Rangarajan’s choreography.
