Mandya: Even as the State Government has announced farm loan waiver, the spate of farmer’s suicide in the district has continued with a farmer taking his life this morning, taking the toll to three in the past one week. Hanumanthaiah (50) of Hettagonahalli in Nagamangala taluk is the deceased.
Hanumanthaiah, who owned 4 acres of land, had borrowed huge sums of money from Banks, Self Help Groups and money-lenders for purchasing a tractor and for meeting farm expenses. But unable to clear the debts, Hanumanthaiah ended his life by hanging self from a tree near his farmland at Hettagonahalli this morning, it is learnt.
