after yesterday’s rain washout

Mysuru: Following heavy rain that disrupted Yuva Dasara last evening, today’s programme has been rescheduled to 4.30 pm from the earlier 5.30 pm. The event, originally titled ‘Sandalwood Night’, has also been renamed ‘Sandalwood Evening’ to reflect the revised timing.

The programme will feature actors Shiva Rajkumar and Rachita Ram, along with performances by singers Vijay Prakash, Rajesh Krishnan, Chandan Shetty, All Ok, Anuradha Bhat and others.

Mysuru recorded 80 mm of rainfall yesterday, disrupting the third day of Yuva Dasara and forcing the cancellation of singer Sid Sriram’s much-awaited concert.

Preparations for today’s event are progressing at the venue, with stage equipment and sound systems undergoing maintenance and testing.

Officials said the lighting, speaker systems and fuse boards had been checked since early morning and were functioning properly, with no damage, short circuits or electrical issues reported.

The stage has also been cleaned following dust deposits caused by strong winds, while a fallen speaker column was repaired with the help of a crane.

With the weather department estimating a 60 percent chance of rain today, organisers have advanced the programme to avoid inconvenience to spectators should heavy rain return later in the evening. Weather reports from Mysuru, Bengaluru and Delhi are also being monitored.
