Mysore/Mysuru: Strongly opposing the amendments to The Registration of Births and Deaths Act, Advocates under the banner of Mysore Bar Association boycotted Court proceedings and staged a demonstration in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) office here yesterday.
Arguing that the amendments seek to keep JMFC (Judicial Magistrate First Class) Courts out of the purview of deciding issues concerning births and deaths and wrest the powers with Assistant Commissioner’s (AC) Court on deciding births and deaths registration disputes or issues, the Advocates contended that the issues, which hitherto used to be decided at Taluk-level, will now be decided in the AC Court at the District headquarters, which will be of great inconvenience to Advocates and the public.
