Mysuru, Oct. 21 (GA&BS)- DIGP (Southern Range) Dr. M.B. Boralingaiah has said, the Police stand with the families of those martyrs, who lay down their lives in the line of duty.
Dr. Boralingaiah was addressing the gathering during Police Martyr’s Day organised by the office of DIGP (Southern Range), City Police, District Police, Karnataka Police Academy (KPA), Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) and Karnataka Armed Reserve Police (KARP) - Mounted Police, at Police Martyr’s Memorial Park near the District Police Office complex, in Nazarbad here this morning.
Natural calamity...
In his address, Dr. Boralingaiah said, apart from keeping the law and order and solving and controlling the crime cases, Police have to deal with the new challenges like terrorism and cyber attacks, by taking tough measures. Whenever there are any incidents of natural calamity, it is the Police who form the initial response forces. During such situations, Police may have to sacrifice their lives.
“Police and paramilitary forces are responsible for the internal security, while the Defence forces, have been entrusted the responsibility of the borders,” said Dr. Boralingaiah, who highlighted the role played by the Police and security forces in the development of the country.
Laying of wreath
Earlier, DIGP Dr. Boralingaiah, City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar, Superintendent of Police (SP) N. Vishnuvardhana, DCP (Law and Order) R.N. Bindu Mani, DCP (Crime and Traffic) K.S. Sundar Raj, Group Captain Billore Hemanth Kumar (Chief Administrative Office, Air Force Selection Board-2, Mysuru), Additional SP C. Mallik, KARP Mysuru Commandant A. Maruthi, DCP (CAR) Siddana Gowda Patil, Karnataka State Industrial Security Force (KSISF) Mysuru Commandant Mahadeva Prasad, KSRP Mysuru Commandant K.B. Doremani Bheemaiah, Traffic ACP Shivashankar, ZP CEO S. Ukesh Kumar and Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Commissioner Shaikh Tanveer Asif and several other invitees laid the wreaths on Martyr’s Memorial.
Tribute to T. Harikrishna
Floral tributes were paid to the bust of late IPS Officer T. Harikrishna (who lost his life in the operation against forest brigand Veerappan in Meenyam forest in 1992), near the District Police Office complex.
Police Martyr’s
In all, there are 191 Police Martyrs across the country, including eight from Karnataka, as read by SP N. Vishnuvardhana.
Parade, Volley Fire
Mahadeva Swamy, Assistant Commandant of KSRP Fifth Battalion, was the Parade Commander. The Police personnel in the parade, shot three rounds of fire in the air, called as ‘Volley Fire’ in Police parlance, while the members of Police Band, played the National Anthem, as a mark of respect to the martyrs.
