Sharath of Mysuru and K.S. Megha of Kyurubur Sports Club won the first place in the road race for men and women (2km) respectively in the 7th RNM Memorial Road Race for men, women, boys, girls & children organised by the Mysore District Masters Athletic Association (MDMAA) at the University of Mysore Athletic Grounds (Oval Grounds) yesterday. A total of 657 participants took part in the road races in different categories. The race was flagged off by Mayor M.J. Ravikumar along with Dr. P. Krishniah, In-charge Director, Dept. of Physical Education, UoM. Corporater Prashanth Gowda, M. Puttaswamy, Secretary & Managing Trustee Somani Groups of Institutions were also present on the occasion. During the prize distribution function, the organisers felicitated M.G. Radesh, Meghana B. Devang, Kabaddi player Shiva Kumar, International Athlete S. Somashekar of South Western Railway, Masters International athlete M. Yogendra, Superintendent of Service Tax (B’luru), B.K. Raje Urs, R.P. Ravi, National Athlete Amarnath and B.S. Jayashree. The prizes to the Road Race winners were given away by MLA M.K. Somashekar, Dr. C. Krishana and Star of Mysore Chief Reporter S.T. Ravikumar. The function was presided by MDMAA President Sumananarasimha Murthy. MDMAA Secretary P.G. Sathyanarayana welcomed and Office-bearer Basavaraj proposed vote of thanks. Jayashree, 2. P. Kavitha, 3. Kalpana. 50 & Above (1 km): 1. B.C. Parvathi, 2. K.S. Rama Mani, 3. Padma Parthasarathi. Girls: (10-16 years) 2km: 1. Chitra, 2. T. Kavana, 3. Kruthika.
