Mysuru: The NJ Hospital - Mysore Institute of Gastroenterology has achieved a significant milestone in treating cystic fibrosis-induced chronic calcific pancreatitis.
The multi-disciplinary team, including MCh Surgical Gastroenterologists Dr. Satish Durgesh and Dr. Sudish Durgesh, performed the surgery on a 14-year-old boy diagnosed with cystic fibrosis. The surgery, which involved 3D 4K laparoscopy, laparoscopic ultrasound and fluorescence image-guided surgery, allowed for faster recovery time, less pain and smaller scars, avoiding long-term complications of open surgery. The patient, who now lives a pain-free life, has regained his lost weight, no longer experiences abdominal pain and has resumed daily activities.
