Mysuru: Sri Kuvempu Vidyavardhaka Trust will be celebrating the 114th birth anniversary of Rashtrakavi Kuvempu during the last week of December. As part of the celebrations, a Gamaka and Geethagayana contest will be held on Dec. 28 at 10.30 am at the Trust premises in Jayalakshmipuram here. The Gamaka will be on Sri Ramayana Darshanam and Kumaravyasa Bharata and Geethagayana on poems of Kuvempu. Those desirous to participate should register their names before Dec. 28. Other than individuals, organisations too can send the participants for the contest. The cash prizes for the first three winners of Gamaka contest will be Rs. 2,250, Rs. 1,750 and Rs. 1,250 while for the Geethagayana it will be Rs.1,250, Rs. 1,000 and Rs. 850. Bavar-Prasad Memorial Science Quiz: On the eve of Poet Laureate Kuvempu’s birth anniversary, Sri Kuvempu Vidyavardhaka Trust has also organised a Bavar-Prasad Memorial Science Quiz competition for High School and PU College students at Sri Vivekananda PU College Campus in Jayalakshmipuram on Dec.28 (Thursday) at 10.30 am. Attractive cash prizes and certificates will be given to the winning students . Certificates and prizes will be distributed on Dec. 29 at the valedictory function.
